Quality, Safety and Community the Western Way

Leo Feuerstein Secretary-Treasurer CFO

At the time of this writing, we see a world that is in turmoil on many different fronts. Fuel prices are rising at an accelerated rate, war is raging is several parts of the world, we have U.S. service personnel in harms way around the world, inflation and tariffs continue to increase our cost of goods for production and in general most people are concerned about the future. I don’t want to take on the roll of pessimist or alarmist because there is always good and hope for the future of America.

The stock market continues to perform in a robust manner and that is good for everyone, staff members who have invested in their future by contributing to their 401K’s are seeing good returns on their investment. Infrastructure construction and municipal, state and federal building continue to be healthy and that is good for the precast industry and Western in particular.

Today Western continues to be in a great position to take advantage of bidding opportunities on infrastructure projects in El Paso, Southern New Mexico and beyond. We continue to provide quality precast products on time and we always offer a precast solution over cast in place and alternate products that are often resin based all at a cost savings to each project. Western is able to accomplish all of this by relying on the great staff members who drive our daily success.

Our management team headed up by our general manager is second to none. Watching costs at every level, taking advantage of long-term supply buying to stabilize cost and planning for the long term is a key element to our top management success.

Our quality assurance department works tirelessly to ensure that our clients get what they are paying for based on specification and job requirements.

Our project managers and estimators perform daily in a stellar manner to get proposals out on every project in our market area that have any and all products we can either manufacture or sell.

Our production and safety staff work each day to produce products that meet national standards for quality and our staff does it each safely each day. Constantly looking out for the safety of every individual is our goal. No accidents, that is what we strive for and our mission is to protect each staff member from harm.

On the topic of safety, we at Western want everyone to know that above all else safety is and always has been our top priority. It makes no difference when we think about taking care of our neighbors if we are referring to our permanent staff members, our temporary staff members, our production crew, our drivers, our shop personnel, our office staff or the community at large.

No injury is the goal and it doesn’t matter who that refers to. There is never anything worth loss of limb or serious harm to anyone in our community. As this note is being written, we tick off a few more days and we now are proud to have accomplished right at 1,000 days without a lost time incident. That translates into a safe and healthy staff!
