Recently Western celebrated our annual Employee Recognition Luncheon. There is a write up further in this edition sharing the event. The luncheon was a reminder of the 79 years Western has been operating in the same location right here in what was originally Ysleta, Texas and now El Paso. Over all the years one thing has always been constant, that is the great people that have worked towards a common goal of producing quality precast concrete products and always doing it safely!
When people think about any great company they often think about the physical assets they see. For example, a small regional airline, Southwest, started right here in Texas flying short shots between Dallas, San Antonio and Houston. With only three Boeing 737’s in 1966 Southwest has now grown to 810 planes and services over 100 destinations in the United States, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. What comes to mind when you think of Southwest, most likely you see a beautiful shiny plane usually painted blue with yellow and red stripes on the tail. What we probably don’t think about is the people who make the flying experience seamless and how the great people at Southwest go out of their way to make your trip comfortable, efficient and pleasant.
I was thinking about how Western Precast in some ways parallels Southwest. In 1946 Western began operating with a few people making small ornamental items, small runs of manholes and utility boxes and small dry cast pipe. Over the years Western has grown into a major player in the Precast industry with approximately 50 permanent employees and upwards of thirty temporary staff members. Maybe, the first thing people think about when Western Precast comes to mind is one of those new shiny beautiful white Peterbilt trucks with those awesome QMC cranes attached. Yet, the real asset at Western is the people, the staff that work so hard every day to produce the quality precast concrete products for our end users. The staff that work so well with all our clients to make their experience here at Western a beneficial one where our clients can get a quality Precast Concrete Product, get great on time service, get solutions to their underground concrete needs and all with respect and value is the real asset.
As we approach our 80th year in continuous business we thank all our staff, there is no better group of people anywhere! Our staff members are the real asset here at Western.
